I drove 25 minutes towards Upenji temple and parked next to Takinomiya Shrine. From here I walked 2.4 kms to the ropeway where I was finally able to buy a new ohenro san jacket and walking stick. And then I climbed about 900 metres to the temple. Through the bush, and I saw a one metre long snake. When I got to the temple I was welcomed by 500 life size statues. It was the most beautiful thing, and quite strange. Also very emotional.
