Hinatawada

Today, on a gorgeous day, I took the train to Hinatawada, near the mountains, bush and the Tama river. I was so happy to be outside in nature. It’s been so long and I so need it. It just reinforced that I need to get out of Tokyo and move to the country side. There’s so much to walk out there. I could smell the bush and mountain air. Lovely. I’m sure to go back soon and often. Of course there’s always a temple or Shrine.

The whole town had those cute diaramas

She who walks

I’ve walked a total of 509.52 kilometers between 21 December 2020 and 14 February 2021, during the Christmas holidays and teaching online. This is 55 days, and an average of 9.26 kms a day. One day I didn’t walk because I had a sore foot. This was also the only day I stayed home all day, except for a short trip to the supermarket. Most days I started walking from my house, looking for temples and libraries to visit. At the Inari Shrine I saw a man get a stamp in a temple stamp book, and I immediately bought a stamp book too. I had just bought a little kitsune statue and didn’t have enough money left for the stamp book. Fortunately, the temple people were so friendly to let me have it anyway. I was so happy. It was setsubun and the temple was giving out food and drinks. It was a very good day. Other days, I took a train, mostly for a short distance. We’re not supposed to go out much and I didn’t want to go on the trains too much either. Monday school starts again so will be able to walk less.
